Clarity answer

Can I Trust Jesus and Still Take Science Seriously?

Yes. Trusting Jesus and taking science seriously belong together, not in competition.

Two ways God gives knowledge

Psalm 19 says the created world “declares the glory of God” (Psalm 19:1–4). Science studies that world: its patterns, causes, creatures, stars, bodies, and history.

Scripture also tells us who made the world, why it matters, what humanity is for, and why creation is both good and broken.

Science can describe how physical processes work. It cannot finally answer why anything exists, why persons have dignity, what good and evil are, or whether God has acted in Christ.

Jesus is not threatened by truth

Jesus is “the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6). So real truth in God’s world will not ultimately contradict him.

That does not mean Christians will always agree on every scientific conclusion or every reading of Genesis. Faithful Christians debate matters such as the age of the earth and how to relate biblical creation texts to scientific accounts. But the central confession does not depend on rejecting careful observation:

  • God created all things.
  • Human beings bear God’s image.
  • Sin is real and creation is fallen.
  • Jesus truly became human, died, and rose bodily from the dead.
  • God will renew creation.

A wise posture

Receive scientific evidence honestly. Also recognize that science has limits: it is powerful at studying measurable nature, but it is not the only path to knowledge.

You do not honor Jesus by fearing truth. You honor him by loving God with all your mind, while receiving both God’s world and God’s Word with humility.
