Clarity answer

What if My Faith Feels Too Weak to Come to Jesus?

Ask a follow-up in Clarity

You do not need strong faith to come to Jesus; you come to him for the faith you lack.

The father’s honest prayer

A father brings his suffering son to Jesus after the disciples have been unable to help. He is desperate, exhausted, and unsure. When Jesus calls him to believe, he answers:

“I do believe; help my unbelief!” — Mark 9:24

Jesus does not turn him away for saying that.

He heals the boy.

Faith is not pretending

Weak faith can still be real faith.

  • It may tremble.
  • It may come with questions.
  • It may feel more like need than confidence.
  • It may only manage, “Jesus, help me.”

The point is not the size of your faith, but the strength and mercy of the Savior you trust. Jesus welcomes the weary: “Whoever comes to Me I will never drive away” (John 6:37).

Come with what you have

Do not wait until you feel spiritually impressive.

Bring Jesus:

  • your doubts,
  • your fear,
  • your sin,
  • your numbness,
  • your desire to want him more.

Even the prayer, “Lord, I want to believe—please help me,” is already a turning toward him.

Jesus is not asking you to save yourself by producing enough faith. He is the one who gives grace, holds his people, and strengthens faith through his Word, prayer, and the fellowship of his Church.

Come to Christ weak-handed. He is not weak-handed toward you.
